The setting of Oliver's Hamlet is on the top of a clift which is very dark and dull sort of lik a greyish color and it appears to have clouds. In this version there is not alot of music but at some points it is to emphasize on some of the things Hamlet is saying. I did not like this version very much because Hamlet spoke very soft throughout the whole scene which I felt showed no emotion. The only movement I noticed was when Hamlet looks down at the castle and leans on the rock. I think the director was trying to convey Hamlet to be very drained out and hopeless. I think there are so many different versions of this one speeech because there can be many different feelings when conteplating suicide.
The Mel Gibson version of this takes place in the Catacomb where his father was buried. In this version Hamlet spoke more loud and showed more emotion. I liked this version the best because the actor playing Hamlet really made me feel as if he was contemplating on killing himself. I think the setting was significant in this speech because a part of why Hamlet been feeling so down was because of his father's death so the fact that he's there while saying this speech shows us that the death of his dad took a big impact on his life.\
Zeffirelli's version of Hamlet took place inside the castle infront of a mirror. This version has the most color. The fact the Hamlet was actually looking at himself in the mirror is important because it emphasizes the fact that he is talking to hisself. I think this shows alittle emotion bcause it demonstrates the struggles Hamlet is going through within hisself. On this vesion Hamlet also pulls out a dagger which shows he is conreplatind suicide ith the method of stabbing hisself
The 4th veraion of this speech takes place in a block buster . In this version there is a voice over that indicates one emotion. I portrayed the actor in this scene as someone who just gave up on life but I think he couldve showed more emotion by talking hisself.
